General and Restorative Dentistry
Protecting your smile means treating disease and intervening at the earliest possible stages. This methodology helps to prevent severe problems as well as reduce the cost of your family’s dental care.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Your dental x-ray might show a pocket of decay in one of your teeth. If left untreated, the cavity will only get bigger, more sensitive, and painful. For very small cavities, our dentist can use micro-air abrasion to prepare your tooth using a drill-free approach. This process allows the white filling to have a close bond with the tooth’s surface and is gentle enough that anesthetic isn’t even needed!
Root Canal Therapy
Endodontic therapy is necessary when a cavity goes untreated and the decay spreads to the nerve of your tooth. The decay causes infection and swelling, which in turn lead to pain.
During root canal therapy, we carefully remove the decay and clean inside of the root with minuscule files so there are no bacteria left behind. Once the decay has been removed and the infection treated, the tooth is sealed off and fitted for a crown.
Same Day Crowns
Crowns are made to cover and protect damaged teeth. Most dentists require two appointments to fit and place a crown. Our practice uses a state of the art, computer assisted CEREC process that allows us to create a 3-D model of your restoration and fit it before you leave the office!
Sometimes, your health may be better served to have a tooth removed due to an infection, injury, or orthodontic concern. We also perform wisdom teeth extractions.
If you have lost all or most of your natural teeth, you may opt to replace them with dentures. These “plates” are a prosthetic replacement for your teeth, custom fitted for your mouth and bite.
If you don’t need a full set of dentures, but you do need to fill in a few gaps, our dentists can fit you with a partial prosthesis. Traditionally, partials have been made with a metal base. At Washington Square Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, we only use a Valplast design. Valplast is a flexible material that allows for a secure, flexible fit that looks more natural!
Trips to the Dentist Make Me Anxious
Do visits to the dentist cause you anxiety? In reality, this is normal for a large number of people. As such, we offer two different options to help you relax during your visit.
You may be familiar with Nitrous Oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas. Nitrous is a light sedative administered through a mask over your nose. It will let your muscles and brain feel calm, but you’ll still able to respond to the dentist.
Another option is Halcion – a little pill that is going to make you happy! This sedative, when taken 20-60 minutes prior to your appointment, allows you to almost sleep through your dental work. Like Nitrous, you will still be able to respond to the dentist, but most patients don’t even remember the treatment after it has finished.
